Spectrum Analyzer – Signal Amplitude and Frequency Checker

A spectrum analyzer is a device which displays both signal amplitude and signal frequency on a comparative scale. A final graph is made that shows frequency of signals on the horizontal axis, and amplitude visible over the vertical axis. Instruments designed for daily purpose show results as an oscilloscope however, the laboratory instruments provide high precision results.

A spectrum analyzer is used to find out if any wireless transmitter is working in a proper state or not. A standard has been setup for the wireless transmitters, these instruments are basically used to check the purity of emissions. A term “panoramic reception” is used to explain working of these devices. According to this term, a spectrum analyzer is connected as an interface between a wireless receiver and electromagnetic signals which are visualized over any personal computer.

With the advent of such analyzers, it has become easy to determine the frequencies of different networking devices including Wi-Fi or any other wireless router. These instruments are successfully used to determine bandwidth of a digital or analog signal hassle free
