Simple Methods to Calibrate a Thermometer and a PH Meter

How often do we use thermometers? How important it is to sanitize thermometers? Well, calibration is very essential and mandatory. Thermometers should be sanitized before the first time it is being used and also in between usage. Calibrating a thermometer is a very elemental process. There are two ways to calibrate a thermometer; which are listed below.

Ice-point technique: In this method you fill an insulated container with water and crushed ice. Ice is supplementary to attain a temperature of 32deg F. Allow the temperature to establish for around 4-5 minutes and then immerse the thermometer into the container to be calibrated to the appropriate length. To avoid any blunder the stem of the thermometer has to be kept isolated from the sides and the bottom of the container. This method usually allows the calibration to within 0.1deg F.

Boiling point technique: Fill a container with water to attain the rolling boil temperature. Plot the thermometer in the centre of the container and submerge it in water completely. In this process avoid touching it to the sides and the bottom of the container. Keep it immersed in the boiling water for around 30 seconds, until the dial stops movement. Keep it immersed in the water until the temperature reads 212deg F. This method usually allows calibration to within 1.0deg F.

A PH meter is usually used to measure the basic and the acidic implicit of any given solution. It is mostly utilized by laboratory technicians, biologists, technicians etc. It is the most on-target instrument available for the precise testing of PH levels.

Calibration of PH meter is a very simple process. You turn on the PH meter. After waiting for around 30 minutes for the set up to warm up, take the electrode out of the solution. Wash it lightly with distilled water, without wiping the electrode membrane. Immerse the electrode in a ph7 buffer and press the calibrate button. Wait for the pH icon to stop flashing and press the measure button. Rinse the electrode with distilled water again and press the measure button. Wait for the pH icon to stop flashing after which you can record the pH of the given sample.

Spectrum Analyzer – Signal Amplitude and Frequency Checker

A spectrum analyzer is a device which displays both signal amplitude and signal frequency on a comparative scale. A final graph is made that shows frequency of signals on the horizontal axis, and amplitude visible over the vertical axis. Instruments designed for daily purpose show results as an oscilloscope however, the laboratory instruments provide high precision results.

spectrum analyzer is used to find out if any wireless transmitter

A spectrum analyzer is used to find out if any wireless transmitter is working in a proper state or not. A standard has been setup for the wireless transmitters, these instruments are basically used to check the purity of emissions. A term “panoramic reception” is used to explain working of these devices. According to this term, a spectrum analyzer is connected as an interface between a wireless receiver and electromagnetic signals which are visualized over any personal computer.

With the advent of such analyzers, it has become easy to determine the frequencies of different networking devices including Wi-Fi or any other wireless router. These instruments are successfully used to determine bandwidth of a digital or analog signal hassle free. for more details about spectrum analyzer visits our official website here

Know direction of wind with Lutron Anemometers

The discovery of anemometer was first made by Leon Battista Alberti in 1450. It was only a mechanical anemometer however now technically advanced instruments are available. Anemometer is scientific equipment which is used to measure the force, speed and direction of the wind. Apart from weather forecasting, they can be also installed in the extreme and unapproachable areas such as mines, tunnels, ventilation systems and sometimes even the aerial navigation system. Lutron is a popular brand known for selling high quality anemometers used in many Meteorology and Geophysics Agencies.

Anemometers are classified into two categories. Firstly, instruments which are used to measure wind's speed, and secondly those used to calculate precisely the wind's pressure. However, there is a connection between both wind pressure as well as wind speed, so many of these instruments are generally designed to calculate both the factors.

LM-8010, AM-4100G and YK-80 AM are three popular products manufactured by Lutron available globally in an affordable price range. They are built with ultrasonic technology and have no extra moving parts. This instrument provides a quick response and helps the users to see results with higher resolution and accuracy.
