Spectrum Analyser: The uses and benefits

As the name suggests, the use of a spectrum analyser or spectral analyser equipment is to analyse the spectrum of the waveform. It can be used to analyse any kind of waveform-electrical or acoustic. At times, the Spectrum Analyser can also double up as another instrument. In many cases, it can also be used as a Power quality Analyser and made to gauge the power spectrum.

There are different types of spectrum analyers- the analogue variety and the digital one. It is very sensitive measuring equipment and it can detect waveform frequencies and display these frequencies. By measuring these frequencies, the scientists can find a lot about various processes that go on in the world. A lot of people prefer to have the digital spectrum analyzer because it is more accurate and relies on a mathematical process dubbed the discrete Fourier transform (or DFT). A digital spectrum analyzer is also believed to be much superior to an analogue spectrum analyser, because the frequencies produced in a digital spectrum analyzer have a better frequency resolution over the prescribed acquisition time frame.

Thermometer Calibration is a method which can be achieved by checking them against fixed points on the temperature scale. These fixed points are generally taken as the melting and boiling points of pure water. The precision and the accuracy of the thermometers is only achieved at the best when the calibration has been done. Otherwise there are chances that the thermometer might produce inaccurate results.
